True Or False: Does Dry Skin Get More Wrinkles?

21 July 2021

Although as you age your skin gets drier and you get more wrinkles, dry skin doesn’t actually cause wrinkles. (1). Wrinkles are caused by damage from Ultraviolet light from the sun, especially UVA rays. Other contributors are your hormones (menopause makes it worse), smoking, having other illnesses and aging (2) as well as a genetic tendency to wrinkling and having fair skin. (3)

SO DOES THAT MEAN I DON’T NEED TO MOISTURISE MY SKIN?

Depends what you mean by moisturise. The term “moisturiser” is a marketing term with basically no scientific meaning! (4). But moisturising your skin definitely makes it feel better, at least in the short term.

As I’ve gotten older, I want to benefit from cosmeceuticals in my skincare and I want a simple routine in the morning or night when I’m in a hurry.

GINNI’S SKINCARE ROUTINE!

So in the morning, I use Zinc Shade to get UV protection PLUS moisturising. At night I use Ultimate A to get niacinamide, retinal PLUS moisturising

Zinc Shade

Zinc Shade

Zinc Shade – UV Protection Skincare Product

Zinc Shade based daily moisturiser providing you with the protection you need from both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.

  • Protects from UVA and UVB protection
  • Can be used under make-up
  • Rated SPF15

Ultimate A

Ultimate A

Vitamins A and B. High strength. Effortlessly improves skin texture and tone for skin that is soft smooth and supple. Also effective in managing acne.

  • Rebuild collagen
  • Increase skin elasticity
  • Reduce hyperpigmentation

The best way to do it? Dermatologists suggest it’s best to moisturise damp skin (don’t dry off after cleansing and rinsing). Don’t be too rough with it. Pop the moisturizer onto your palm, rub them gently together and then lightly apply to your face, neck and décolletage. .
